The Name

There is so much in a name. What influenced Piccadilly Arts' name? This actually goes back to when I was 9 and MTV and Nick were celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Monkees. I spent that entire summer glued to the TV at 4:30pm watching the absurdity of that 60s cult classic. I was hooked — on the music, on the fabulousness of their mod clothing, and the 60s subculture.  Fast forward to high school and college and I was collecting indie Brit bands' LPs, and buying little A-line polyesther dresses and pillbox purses. When I considered a name for the business, I wanted something that spoke to my love of London Mod. A friend had opened a shop called the District Line in DC and I considered other Tube lines. Piccadilly stood out — a fun sounding name to capture my personality AND if you consider the actual interesection, it's comprised of several streets converging at a circle. I thought that was appropriate given the sort of work I engage in - marketing and management. There are a lot of spokes that come together to cohesively push something forward. The London Eye logo is a take on that idea. That is how mod meets business.
