12/13 Roster Brochure Design: A nod to mid century whimsy
I'm not sure the last time I really posted a blog about design. But I thought given the recent printing and mailing of Piccadilly's 12/13 roster that I would highlight the roster as well as the inspiration behind it.
The Doylestown based Ink Nest Design created the brochure below. I hope you can feel the sense of whimsy and imaginative that we wanted.

Whimsy and Imaginative can certainly be interpreted in many ways. What really inspired me were mid-century cartoons (think old school Batman and Robin and Spider Man) with their bright bold colors, fonts, and POW in your face moments.

What else? Mid-century poster art with bold blocks of color and chunky type.

I confess -- With my 3 year old in tow, we often hit the children's section of our local library. There are SO many fabulously illustrated books there. The librarians must think I'm nuts because I'm either snapping away with my Evo's camera or checking out 5 extra books simply because of their illustrations.
