Entrepreneurship
Seth Godin ~ My Inspiration
My good friend and colleague, Kristi Chester, authors a blog - The Track Recording - that follows her quest for her MBA in Entrepreneurship. Kristi's taken a creative approach to funding her education and has been working closely with small businesses for sponsorships. Her blog features terrific marketing, entrepreneurial, and higher educational content. A few weeks ago she had asked me to be a guest blogger and contribute something that speaks to small business challenges and being an entreprenuer. I said, sure thing! And then thought...and thought...and thought some more. Finally it came to me. My contribution could be both personal and professional and tie in nicely to her theme. I had just finished up at the Arts Midwest Conference and had the pleasure of hearing marketing guru Seth Godin speak. In the six weeks that have passed since then, I'm an avid reader of his blog and implementer of his ideas.
Seth's talk came at the right moment. He kicked my butt - forward and backwards. He reminded me of who I was at 25 and that I could step back in time and pull out those positive 20-something year old characteristics and apply them to my life today. He reminded me of how far I'd come and where I could be if I could move past some normal start-up fears. He reminded me that I am a starter and an instigator.
